Leopoldine for mixed choir a cappella is based on Les Illuminations by Victor Hugo. They are 3 glances of the poet on his daughter, at very different times: happiness to be father, the death of Léopoldine, and Hugo?s mourning several years afterwards.
The music of the composer and the words of the poet underline this eternal duality : the joy of life and the tragedy of the existence.
