Solstices [score]

Dedicated to Simon Diricq and the Kebyart Ensemble, Solstices (2023) is a one-movement work for alto saxophone and saxophone quartet. The composer musically illustrates his feelings about the solstices of summer and winter, but does not say which part of the piece corresponds to any particular moment, leaving it up to the listener’s imagination. The different parts are extremely contrasting and demand great virtuosity from the performers, both technically and musically.

The world premiere by the dedicatees took place on 20 July 2023 in Altafulla (Spain).
