Fabliau Op. 51

bassoon (or bass clarinet) and piano

A fabliau (French) is a little tale popular in the 12th and 13rd centuries, discribong scenes of manners. These are discussed here by the combination of two instruments as different as piano and bassoon (or bass clarinet). The modal harmonies and syncopated accents of piano color these small paintings with a dancing or nostalgic touch.
