Bohdan Sehin (born 1976 in Borshchiv, Ternopil region, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian composer and cultural organizer, known for his contributions to contemporary music both as a creator and a curator. He graduated from the Lviv Conservatory in 1999, where he studied composition under Myroslav Skoryk, one of Ukraine’s leading postmodernist composers.
Sehin’s music has been presented at numerous concerts and festivals across Ukraine and Europe. His work often explores modern textures and forms while remaining rooted in the expressive traditions of Eastern European music. In addition to composing, he has been deeply involved in building the institutional and international profile of new music in Ukraine.
He has collaborated with a range of European cultural institutions, including those from Poland, Germany, and Austria. In recognition of his work, Sehin has been awarded several prestigious scholarships and fellowships. These include two residencies with the Polish Ministry of Culture’s “Gaude Polonia” program, a fellowship from the Warsaw Autumn Friends Foundation, and support from initiatives such as Gulliver Connect and a presidential grant in Ukraine for artistic development.
In 2004, Sehin was awarded the Levko Revutsky Prize, one of Ukraine’s major honors for young composers. He has also received several awards at national composition competitions and is an active member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine.
Beyond composition, Sehin plays a significant role in curating and managing music festivals. He has worked on the organization of events such as the “Contrasts” International Festival of Contemporary Music in Lviv, where he currently serves as Executive Director. His broader engagements include initiatives like the Ukrainian Biennale of New Music, the Kyiv Music Fest, and various international youth music forums. Since 2009, he has also been involved with the ensemble Nostri Temporis and with new music masterclasses in Kyiv.
