André Ribeiro

André Ribeiro (1975) graduated in musical composition from Santa Marcelina Musical College in São Paulo, 2004, where he attended composition classes held by Silvio Ferraz with emphasis on the music of Olivier Messiaen.

Iniatiated contemporary music studies with Gilberto Mendes and Willy Correa de Oliveira, Brazilian composers and co-founders of the Musica Nova Festival in São Paulo. He was the winner of Almeida Prado’s Brazilian National Competition for string quartet composition and holds since 2007 a Master’s degree from the Arts Institute of Campinas State University of São Paulo. He is presently (2011) enrolled at University of São Paulo, with a view to obtain a Doctors’ degree in musical composition.
