This work is a version for string orchestra of the “love scene” from my ballet The Lady of the Lake, originally composed for full orchestra in 1989. The transcription was conceived in 1991, during a cruise on Lake Lucerne.
The surrounding landscape — with its serene lake and majestic mountains — immediately brought to mind the atmosphere of the ballet and, in particular, the love scene I had written several years earlier. Inspired by this setting, I spent the journey shaping a new version for strings, which I later committed to paper in the following months.
The result is a lyrical and evocative piece that captures the emotional core of the original, now reimagined through the warm, expressive timbres of the string orchestra.
