four guitars

During 2008-2009, Michel Lysight was invited as “composer in residence” at the Darius Milhaud Conservatory of the 14th arrondissement of Paris, and it is in this context that Unsquare Quartet (2008) was written. Structurally, it is a one-movement piece, but articulated in various parts that follow one another without interruption.

Each section has its own character, two of them being particularly rhythmic while the others deploy a rich, melodic and expressive counterpoint. A certain minimalism and ostinato writing mark the entire work.
