Andersen belongs to the great Austrian-Hungarian piano school, having been the pupil of the marvellous Chopin and Mozart player, famous Polish pianist Stefan Askenase, himself pupil of Emil Sauer who was a student of Franz Liszt.
She has played in famous venues such as Victoria Hall (Geneva), Palais des Beaux-Arts (Brussels), Liszt Ferenc Zeneakademia (Budapest),Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Teatro della Fenice (Venice), Carnegie Hall (New York), Rudolfinum (Prague). Andersen performed with Bruno Maderna, Boulez, Sawallisch a.o. and had personal contacts to musicians like Kodaly, Tansman and André Gertler (renowned Hungarian violinist, friend and partner of Béla Bartok).
Interesting discography, many recordings in world premiere. A. o. the complete piano work by Gabriel Pierné and Joseph Jongen. Also Jongen's chamber music with the "Ensemble Joseph Jongen", which received enthousiastic reviews. Andersen has also premiered works by American composers Dianne Goolkasian Rahbee and Michael Slayton.
Lately with her Ensemble Joseph Jongen she played in world premiere works by Andrzej Kwiecinski, Alain Weber, and rediscovered pieces by Albert Roussel, René de Castéra, Emile Gouet, Adolphe Biarent. Also first performances of music by New Consonent composer Michel Lysight in Canada and Argentina.
Hon. Professor of the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, Andersen pursues a very intensive pedagogical activity and conducts master classes throughout the world. Is also active giving lecture-recitals on interesting topics like Bartok, Blanche Selva, French music around 1900, Evolution of Piano methods, Alexandre Tansman, etc. Andersen serves currently on the jury of many important international competitions.
