At the age of 12, Mireille Gleizes realized the importance of music in her life and there she began to study the piano intensively. She obtained a First Prize at the Royal Conservatory of Gent (Belgium) and continued her studies at the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and Mons, and finally at the State Conservatory of Minsk (U.S.S.R.).

Three teachers in particular helped her to develop her natural virtuosity : Valery Afanassiev and Michael Faerman, both First Price winners of the Queen Elisabeth Competition), and the composer, pianist and pedagogue Piotr Lachert. On the other hand, it is very important that, by practising zen-meditation, she is able to let the force of silence determine her playing.

This extraordinary combination of virtuosity and silence-born expression allows her to master a very varied repertoire, ranging from Bach to Shostakovich.

She performs solo or together with the violinist Mikhaïl Bezverkhny, First Prize winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, playing programmes in which contemporary music, especially New Consonant Music, occupies an important place.
