Jean-Marie Simonis

Jean-Marie Simonis was born in 1931 in Mol (Belgium) and studied composition and orchestration with Marcel Quinet.

Simonis is a member of the Belgian Académie Royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts, he was professor of harmony at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and taught harmony, counterpoint and fugue at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth. Althrough very classical in form - and independant from many of the New Consonant trends - his works are influenced by a need for equilibrum and other cultures.
