Born in Canton, Ohio in 1964, Michael J. Evans began studying piano and saxophone at age 10. He attended Kent State University, where he studied piano with Margaret Baxtresser and composition with Thomas Janson. In 1986, Michael moved to Washington, D.C. where he resides today.
His works include compositions for various chamber ensembles and solo instruments, as well as full orchestral works. The pieces have been premiered in Delaware, Washington D.C., and Paris. The Holiday Party was recorded by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and released on the CD, Holidays of the New Era in November 2007. Mandala was also recorded by members of the Prague Radio Symphony and is due to be released in spring, 2008. Recording of Nocturne with Sunrise was recorded by the Kiev Philharmonic and is due to be released in November, 2008.
