In October 1992 the 26-year-old composer Edwin Clapuyt gave his first lecture on Musical Analysis at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
For more than ten years, his enthusiastic lectures have led conservatory students to learn the basic mechanisms of composing through the accurate analysis of well-known musicians. He won the Madame de la Hault award, from the Commission of Patrimony, for his teaching qualities and his zeal in June 2001.
His passion began when he was still young: he studied at the Academy of Etterbeek and at the Academy of Brussels. He entered the Royal Conservatory of Music of Brussels in 1983, after his secondary schools. He won various First prizes, among which the First prizes in piano, emphasized by the Price Galliot and Lemike-Frison, or the Musical History Award. After lecturing in three Academies, Edwin Clapuyt was named the Director of the Musical Academy of Evere in 1991.
Since September 2002, he has lectured the new course of Computer-assisted music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. His musical passion has led him to compose numerous scores. In recent years, he has composed some major ones such as « Four Lines for Shadow Squares », for string quartet and « Through the Light » for harpsichord. We should also mention scores for piano, violin, guitar, string orchestra as well as arrangements or orchestration for other composers.
